The places that define Sevilla

First time in the city? Start with the 48-hour Seville guide and turn this list into two realistic days.

How to choose what to visit in Seville

Seville can be seen in a day but is understood in three. On a first visit, the order that rarely fails is the World Heritage triangle — the Alcázar, the Cathedral and Giralda and the Archive of the Indies — on the first morning, Plaza de España that same afternoon, and Triana the next day.

The rest of the list works by affinity: viewpoints and modern design at Las Setas, silence and courtyards in Santa Cruz, the river and sunset at the Torre del Oro.

Tickets, queues and peak hours

Only three visits require real planning: the Alcázar, the Cathedral and the climb up the Giralda. In high season, book days ahead and take the first slot of the day. Everything else can be improvised.

In summer, split the day in two: monuments until 1:30 PM, a siesta or a cool interior until 6 PM, and the streets after that. Practical information covers transport, opening hours and seasonal advice.
