History

Before becoming Seville's most photographed quarter, Santa Cruz was the medieval Jewish quarter, one of Sefarad's most prosperous. After 1492 its inhabitants changed but its labyrinthine layout, flowered courtyards and city-within-a-city feel remained. Cervantes walked these alleys, and here Beaumarchais imagined his Barber.
