48 hours in Seville: the perfect weekend itinerary
Seville is best enjoyed slowly, but if you only have a weekend, this itinerary is designed to see the essentials without stress: monuments, soulful neighborhoods, tapas and flamenco. It combines Santa Cruz, the Cathedral and Giralda, the Real Alcázar, Plaza de España, Triana at sunset and a tapas night. Book tickets online as early as possible.
Day 1 — Monumental Seville
Morning: Cathedral, Giralda and Real Alcázar
Start early at Seville Cathedral and climb the Giralda for the best city views. Then cross to the Real Alcázar (booking essential): Mudéjar halls, fairy-tale gardens and the echo of seven centuries of history. Plan at least 3 hours for the whole complex.
Midday and afternoon: Santa Cruz and Archive of the Indies
Enjoy tapas in a small square of the Santa Cruz quarter, the old Jewish neighborhood. Get lost in its narrow lanes, tiled patios and corners like Plaza de Doña Elvira. Visit the General Archive of the Indies to understand Seville as the port of the Americas.
Evening: Plaza de España and flamenco
Walk at sunset through the María Luisa Park to Plaza de España — the best light of the day. Have tapas in the Arenal neighborhood and finish with a live flamenco tablao or an intimate show in Triana.
Day 2 — Rivers, neighborhoods and flavors
Morning: Torre del Oro, Triana and market
Start at the Torre del Oro and cross the Isabel II bridge to Triana, the sailor and ceramics neighborhood. Walk Calle Betis, visit the Triana Market and the Ceramics Centre to discover where the famous azulejos come from.
Afternoon: Setas, Alameda and Macarena
Climb the Setas de Sevilla (Metropol Parasol) for a rooftop view of the city. Head down to Alameda de Hércules for a drink among locals, then walk to the Basílica de la Macarena to meet the city's most beloved Virgin.
Evening: Guadalquivir walk and farewell
End with a sunset boat ride on the Guadalquivir or a quiet dinner on a riverside terrace. If you still have energy, one more flamenco moment: in Seville there is always one more night.

When is the best time to visit Seville?
Spring (March–May) and autumn (October–November). Avoid July and August due to extreme heat. Holy Week and the April Fair are unique but require early booking.
Is it easy to get around without a car?
Very easy. The center is pedestrian-friendly with tram, TUSSAM buses, metro and Sevici bikes. You only need a car for trips outside the city.
Where should I stay in Seville?
Santa Cruz and Arenal to be close to everything; Triana for local vibe and flamenco; Alameda for nightlife. Avoid areas far from the old town if your time is short.
